Working a westbound loaded coal train towards Fiddlers Ferry power station are a pair of British Railways owned Class 76 EM1 locomotives, seen rounding the curve at Crowden on the late lamented Woodhead route during the late 1970s.
By this time the route was indeed running on borrowed time as coal traffic began to dwindle, and competition from the Hope Valley line located to the south, eventually saw the line closed and lifted between Hadfield and Penistone in 1981.
I doodled this one up on a train journey between Exeter and Birmingham about two months ago on a small notepad, and only now have I actually pulled my finger out to refine it!
I need to up my game! xD
